The overall project included planting the loops of the US 50/301 interchange.
As one of the landscape architects on the team, we studied the interchange and evaluated the scale of the highway and speed of the traveling motorists.
Our design accommodated these factors by providing large beds and broad strokes of plants in order to be visible in the highway environment.
Large mulched areas provided plants with ample time to become established and minimized the required maintenance for the short and long term life of the project.
Of particular challenge on this project was the schedule which required a plant list for advertisement prior to the completion of the landscape design. This required foresight to specify the proper species and quantities of plants to complete the design without having the benefit of a fully completed set of drawings.
